A little reflection moment leaving the house today: I can’t believe this is the same dog that used to follow me around like a shadow in complete fear that I’d leave, had three hour tantrums every evening, and woke up panicking in the middle of the night.
He’s happy and confident, plus still cheeky and stubborn in the best ways - I mean, why eat healthy food if you can beg for crumpets?! Also he’s *mostly* on the mat with his snack, so it counts, right?
Sharing a photo with you of Umi as I left the house today, and again want to say thank you for all your help so far.
Gotta celebrate these things x

AVBS said good bye to one of our founding clients.
This is Jasper and this is his journey…..
We met Jasper in 2012, he hated other dogs, in fact he wanted to hurt them. His behaviour towards them was so intense that he pulled his owner over to attack them. His owner had tried all options in training with no success in improving his reactivity towards other dogs.
Jasper had now come to a cross road, euthanasia or behaviour treatment through a vet.
Jasper’s owner wasn’t ready to lose him, so she decided to seek treatment with AVBS. Dr Tracey was able to diagnose the cause of his aggression…. And it was anxiety.
Anxiety clouded Jasper’s behaviour which lead to him choosing aggression when around other dogs. It created a very dangerous situation for both Jasper, his owner and other dogs.
Anxiety is a medical condition and Dr Tracey could treat it. Jasper couldn’t be ‘fixed’ but Dr Tracey was able to help him with the assistance of medication, management, modification and monitoring. The combination of these components were as important as each other.
Jasper needed medication for the rest of his life, however he got to live as close to “normal” as possible. He got to grow old.
So now we say goodbye to this beautiful boy, we got to give him a hug and cuddles and we thanked him for the success he gave us.
Thank you Jasper xx,
Tracy and Tracey
Sophie is 6 years old and has been an AVBS patient for almost 4 years. When Sophie first came to us she was scared of numerous triggers and experienced anxiety on a daily basis. The most concerning thing for Sophie and her owner was her severe separation distress.
Sophie came to visit us at AVBS for a revisit consultation and what can we say!!!! Amazing progress! She is now a happy girl, still with A LOT of enthusiasm for life!! She is such a regular that she pulled up a seat on the comfy couch. Why not!!!!
Keep up the great work Sophie and her mum!
