Great muzzle training is about having your dog not just feel good about wearing a muzzle, but teaching them to put their own cute snoots in the muzzle for you, so all you have to do is buckle up! All force free, of course!
Muzzles are not 'bad' things, and dogs who wear muzzles are definitely not 'bad' dogs. We as humans tend to judge what a muzzle means, but the reality is that all dogs at some stage of their life will require a muzzle. Vets in particular will use them in different situations for added safety and some dogs require them for different situations as part of their behavioural management. Muzzles, just like a leash, are a great piece of equipment which require some training so our dogs understand what they are.
It is far less stressful for both owners and dogs when good muzzle training is implemented before it is needed. It makes for far calmer vet trips, and can make an excellent and very important part of a behaviour management plan.
